Communication Creates Confidence

by Teya Sparks

Most of us didn't get good role modeling of communication yet we supposed to know how to communicate well.  It just doesn't work that way.  So, we might ask ourselves:

What did I learn about communication?

How did I see others close to me communicate with one another?

What gets in the way of me communicating clearly?

Do I feel confident in handling conflict?

What kind of communication do I avoid?

What situations do I avoid because of my fear of my communication skills?

What are my strengths as a communicator?

Our struggles are not personal, there's a good reason we do what we do- we learned it somewhere.  Identify what you do, clear out what doesn't work, and learn new information and skills to develop yourself as the kind of communicator you want to be.

Knowing you can communicate well in any situation gives you an enormous amount of confidence.  Begin your journey with noticing where you are, then ask yourself is this where I want to be?
