Speaking English Clearly for Foreign-Born Professionals

Foreign-born professionals add significant value to the companies for which they work. Many foreign-born professionals have a strong grasp of the English language, but heavy accents may interfere with their ability to be clearly understood when communicating crucial information. While they do not need to get rid of their accents, the foreign born professional's everyday English needs to be easily understood by clients, customers, and co-workers.

Results of the Speaking English Clearly Training

  • Increases self-confidence to share expertise and take charge when opportunities arise.
  • Improves his acceptance as an "insider" and a respected colleague who is easily engaged in conversation.
  • Increases his value to the company, clients, and customers.

Customized Programs for individuals and corporate groups.

Individual coaching often lasts for 8 one-hour private sessions. Sandra identifies 10 to 15 specific sounds of English that the foreign-born professional is not pronouncing correctly. She teaches the student how to articulate those sounds and helps the student practice the sounds while speaking English. Sessions may be taken one hour per week or one hour every two weeks to allow the student to practice and integrate new sounds into his daily speech. Sessions may also be done by telephone or by Skype from anywhere in the world.

Group classes for corporate employees are often 6 sessions. Each session lasts 90 minutes to 2 hours. Groups are most effective when limited to a maximum of 8 people. Sandra identifies the sounds of English that participants are not pronouncing correctly. She teaches participants proper articulation which is positioning of tongue, teeth, and lips, for correct pronunciation. Industry specific terms are used for practicing correct pronunciation.

Group sessions may also be done via Skype from anywhere in the world.
